Beat the heat and volunteer in the mountains of Boulder County.  Learn about Colorado forest ecology while working with other volunteers to improve montane forest stands on open space near Nederland.  The wildflowers will be plentiful and the views are stunning. Come join a Nederland tradition and watch the annual July 4th parade at noon.  Then stick around and enjoy the first annual Peak to Peak Music Festival from 1-7 p.m.  Finally, watch the great fireworks (make a donation) after dark.

The Nederland Fireworks is an annual tradition. Situated along the shore of Barker Resevior, people come from miles around to watch the spectacular show over the water.  The Nederland Area Chamber of Commerce and The Flash Foundation have teamed up this year to continue the tradition and bring another
spectacular show to Nederland.

In response to the recent tree and limb damage and to try to help mitigate a build up of Ips beetles, Boulder County will once again be collecting slash (tree limbs under 6" in diameter) on Ridge Road by the green recycling boxes.

• When: Starting May 26 through Sept. 6, 8 am to 4 pm daily (except Wednesdays)
• What: Slash ONLY -- Slash is defined as tree limbs up to six inches in diameter.  No other organic materials will be accepted.
• Cost: no charge

In order to ensure that space is available for each load delivered, users need to call the transfer station at 303-258-7878 to make an appointment. Woodchips for use as garden mulch are available free of charge while supplies last, but must be loaded by hand.

The Carousel of  Happiness is having a fundraiser at the Community Center. Six massage therapists are donating their time to the "Massage-a-thon", proceeds from which will go to the Carousel building fund. There will also be lots of fun activities in the Multi-purpose room for families: a fairy workshop, health & wellness booths, a display of endangered species "rounding board" paintings up for adoption, raffles, door prizes and food.

Due to the damage caused by the numerous high winds this winter the, Gilpin County Slash Site, normally closed until spring, will open for two weekends: February 28, March 1, and March 7 and 8. 11:00am to 4:00pm. All the standard slash requirements still apply. Logs still accepted at the Road and Bridge building 303-582-5004.
