Community Center Painting Party Day 2

Sign Up for Boulder County 911 Alert
Under:Public safety agencies in Boulder County are pleased to announce the launch of a new emergency notification system. This system, available immediately, will allow residents of the county and all cities within Boulder County to be notified of an emergency situation in a variety of ways, including on their cell phones, home and work phones, and by text messaging and e-mail.
The system will be used to notify residents about imminent threats to health and safety such as the need to evacuate due to a wildfire or take other appropriate actions in the event of a flash flood or other critical law enforcement activity. The alerts will come in from 911Alert@bouldercounty.org. The service is free to members of the public, except for any text messaging charges associated with their cell phone provider.

BC: Improve our Forests
Under:Help improve our mountain forests on August 15. Beat the heat and volunteer in the mountains of Boulder County. Learn about Colorado forest ecology while working with other volunteers to improve montane forest stands on open space near Nederland. The wildflowers will be plentiful and the views are stunning.
This project runs from 8:30am-2pm. The minimum age is 12 with adult supervision. To register, please email WildWorkVolunteers@BoulderCounty.org or call 303-678-6216 by August 12.
BC: Weed Control at Caribou Ranch
Under:Volunteer in the high-country at Caribou Ranch. It may look pretty, but Oxeye Daisy is a noxious weed that has escaped gardens and is taking over mountain meadows at Caribou Ranch. Spend the morning finding and pulling these flowers to help protect a riparian ecosystem. This is a great opportunity for families and young volunteers. We will work in a beautiful mountain meadow, a great place to find native wildflowers. You can volunteer one or both days.

BC: Conifers of Caribou Ranch
Under:Caribou Ranch Open Space; 2 miles north of Nederland on County Road 126; meet at parking lot kiosk. Join volunteer naturalists Ellen Smith and Barbara Willis for an easy 1-mile hike exploring the scenic montane forest of Caribou Ranch Open Space. You will learn to identify a variety of coniferous trees using a simple dichotomous key, and talk about forest ecology and management issues.
Free Community Center Concert
Under:Wrap up the weekend with a free concert by local gospel group Revelation 19. Sunday afternoon July 26th @ 4:30pm in the Community Center Auditorium. A great close to a great weekend of community activities!
Community Center Painting Party
Under:Community Center Painting Party! The Nederland Community Center Foundation Board is looking for a few good volunteers who have a couple of hours to spare on Saturday, August 8th! Volunteers will help paint the outside of the Community Center’s West Wing to match the main building. Come spend a morning outdoors improving your community! Gilpin Bus Serving Nederland Park and Ride
Under:A 14-passenger, wheelchair-accessible bus will make stops seven days a week at locations such as the Gilpin County school campus, Gilpin County Justice Center, Gilpin County Community Center, Library, Mountain Family Health Clinic, Gold Mountain Village, Black Hawk, Central City, and Rollinsville post offices, as well as the Nederland RTD Park and Ride. Your free ride is supported by the Gilpin County Board of Commissioners.
