Boulder County Low-Income Energy Assistance Program
Under:The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) will begin accepting applications November 2, and will continue accepting applications through April 30, 2010.
LEAP assists low-income households with paying their winter heating bills. Income criteria and other eligibility factors must be met. The program is designed to pay the highest benefit to households with the highest heating costs and lowest income.
BC Hike: The Wild Cats of Boulder County
Under:Caribou Ranch Open Space; 2 miles north of Nederland on County Road 126; meet at parking lot kiosk. Join Park Interpreter Michael Bauer for a moderate 3-mile hike above 8,000 feet and learn about the ecology and behavior of mountain lions and bobcats. Along the way, we will also discuss other predators found at Caribou Ranch Open Space and elsewhere in Boulder County, and explore the evolution, ecology, and dynamics of predator-prey relationships.
PROSAB Trail Clean-Up
Under:PROSAB volunteers will be cleaning up slash and logs thinned along the trail north of the elementary school. Bring gloves!
Chipeta Park Bulb Planting and Clean-Up
Under:Help to beautify our town's playground! On October 24th between 10AM - 12PM please join us to plant some flowers which will bloom in the spring and fix up our community playground. We will be planting bulbs, picking weeds, racking, and general rejuvenation of the playground which so many of our children enjoy. This is a family activity so please bring your family to help out and have fun. Also please bring rakes, work gloves, shovels, and bulbs to plant.
Curbside Slash Pick-Up Day
Under:Reservations are now closed. Curbside slash pick-up day in Nederland, sponsored by the Town of Nederland PROSAB, IPFA, and Boulder County.
Soliciting Art for the Community Center
Under:The Community Center Foundation is soliciting artwork to display at the Community Center. We planning to collect artwork on Friday, Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Community Center. We will then choose pieces to display from the collected works. We will contact you the following week regarding acceptance. This is to be a rotating display with new artists' works being hung every 3 months or so. Should your works not be chosen for this round, you would be considered for the next showing. All artwork not accepted into this showing will need to be picked up by noon on Saturday, Oct 3.

Fight Back 101 Class
Under:DART, Inc., a Boulder non-profit that specializes in violence prevention training will offer its Fight Back 101 class in Nederland on October 24, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Nederland Community Center.
Taste of the Peaks
Under:The 2nd annual Taste of the Peaks will take place Sunday September 27th at 3:00pm at the Nederland Community Center. This is a benefit for the Nederland and Gilpin County food banks. Chefs of the Peak to Peak region compete for the title of best appetizer, best side dish, best main dish and best dessert. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors over 65 and children ages 5-12. Kids 4 and under eat free. Please come support this great cause!

Nederland Area Historical Society's Heritage Days Festival
